Ali Abdul Hussein Saleh Al-Sabai was born in Iraq, specifically in Nasiriyah. He wrote his first story on April 24, 1984, titled "Arbda After the Iraqi Officers Cigarette". His first story was published in the Tunisian magazine "Al-Ithaf" in 1997, titled "A Wedding in the Cemetery". He has written several books including "Rhythms of the Dancing Time", a collection of short stories published in Syria in 2002. Another book, "The Cry Before Muteness", won the third prize in the Dubai Cultural Competition in 2003/2004. He also published "Zulaykhat Yusuf" in Iraq in 2005, and "The Burning of Zamanamah Kingdom" in 2006, which won the Nagi Naaman Prize in Beirut, Lebanon. In 2014, he published "Daughters of the Lost" and "Blogs of an Unknown Soldiers Widow". He also published "Sheherazade: Qadri" in the United States in 2017. He has received several awards including first place in the Arabian Poetry House competition for three consecutive years from 1996 to 1998. He also won third place in the Dubai Cultural Competition in 2003/2004 and the Nagi Naaman Prize in 2006. He received the State Shield of Iraq in 2011 for his literary achievements, as well as several honorary awards in various competitions. Numerous studies have been conducted on his literature, examining the content of his narratives, his narrators, and the structure of his stories. His works have been translated into several languages, including English and Dutch. He has been featured in cultural magazines, journals, and newspapers in both Arabic and Iraq.
